"Blockbuster Chides You For Losing The Movies In Your Queue [Video ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 16:58:45

I undergo been a long time reader of consumerist and hoped I would never undergo to displace in anything to you guys. Leave it to Blockbuster to force me to do this. I undergo been using Blockbuster Online for almost a year now. It has been ups and downs. I have been shipped the wrong movie countless times but just took the pain of not being able to watch my movie and sent it approve. I have received enough "wrong" movies to deserve a few months of remove service but I don't change surface charge I just evaluate "Nature of the Business". Now to my air.... I had rented the classic "Apocalypse Now" and watched Disc One (which by the way Blockbuster online doesn't express you it is 2 discs on some of the choices so it is hit or desire.). So I went to my stand to put disc 2 on the list so I can enjoy the end of the movie. To my dismay. I log in to my be to find my queue EMPTY. I had 20-30 movies in the stand... all gone! So I email Blockbuster asking what happened to my movies? and can they do anything to recover the enumerate! This is when the Mania ensues.... The respondent from Blockbuster was rude at best. Won't acknowledge I change surface undergo a problem. Basically accuses me of erasing all of my movies (why would someone do that?) or that I gave my password to someone else and they did it. The most scathing move is that in her first response she in so many words "scolds" me for having an empty stand! I am also a big fan of the "Always here to back up" signature on the end of the emails.... It is a ridiculous response and considering their situation they should be doing jumping jacks to act customers. Instead they act with nonsense. They sent me two "surveys" after each response which I filled out "Extremely Dissatisfied" on every question. Here is a write of the Emails for your reading enjoyment. Hopefully people reading this ordain choose to not use Blockbuster or change surface better someone from Blockbuster will read this and go to the customer function office and go some cages of their customer service agents. I've checked that your stand is empty. Unfortunately we would not be able to acquire the enumerate of movies that you have. You may just try to add movies again. Please remember that we use your stand to give function and ask that you act 30-40 "Available" movies listed at all times to ensure there are no interruptions. 1. What happened to everything I had in there? Where did they go?2. I don't desire the attitude of your response. You basically scolded me for not having 30-40 movies available. I DID undergo movies in there the complete list is GONE.3. If you can't recover my list. I want SEVERAL months credit to my account. There was months of picking movies in there. I ordain never be able to bequeath all the movies my Wife and I put in there. Please say that your queue can only be accessed with your own personal password. We don't have the ability to change or manage titles to your stand. You are also solely responsible for all activities that occur on your be or through use of your password by yourself or by other persons. Please make sure that your password is secured so no one can add or delete a movie in your stand without your knowledge. Thanks for your understanding. I did NOT delete anything from my queue and I am the ONLY person with the password. Why would I delete my movies that a spent months putting the enumerate together. gratify furnish this to someone who can furnish me a real say. Otherwise I will have to cancel and go to Netflix. This is ridiculous that you aren't taking me seriously. I didn't remove anything and now after 2 communications from you... I comfort have not even gotten as little as and APOLOGY. The compose's initial communication was terse unprofessional and contained very little useful information. If you have a problem and want back up you be to clearly and fully explain the whole situation to the best of your ability. And if you really accept that you will never remember some of the movies in your stand your life won't be any worse for not having seen them. Netflix customer service is great! I've changed my subscription reported lost DVDs and even canceled for a while.. but their amazing service brought me right approve. All online simple clicks of the mouse no battles over billing issues. cast aside Blockbuster and go to Netflix! For the problem it sounds like they had some kind of database air and the movies in your stand were erased. It happens! I doubt anyone at Blockbuster can do anything about it change surface if they wanted to. beat act their advice and add your movies approve (though keeping 30-40 movies in the stand seems darn excessive). Sounds like a classic version of the rep referring to the FAQs and not fully understanding the air. I bet there is a rep FAQ that states - "What if there are no movies in my queue?" and she is giving you that say. And then the followup FAQ about what happens if someone suspects queue tampering. Regina (a re-create label) probably doesn't compassionate nor does whoever trained her. Of course act your money to Netflix its a exceed customer undergo anyway.. and how often do you really go movies to the hold on? That response sounds exactly desire every Blockbuster com response I've ever gotten. I actually believe now (after so many canned and useless responses that don't address the actual problem) that ALL BB com email replies are actually written by a computer with no human involvement at all. The oddest thing about BB com is that one month they'll be great and the next month it's as if they shut the affiliate drink. Rinse repeat. Even if you have 40 movies in your stand only about 5 of them ordain be 'available' and of those. BB ordain maybe actually reach to send you one or two. Netflix on the other transfer.. always stellar always what I paid for and more. Just leave man. I worked at Blockbuster for 9 months as a manager (trust me. I hated it you don't be to ask) and the affiliate is just run so horribly. You wouldn't accept how little employees are told about programs desire be Access we had to alter calls to the online customer service daily because customers had problems that we simply didn't have answers for. All our district manager ever did was give us unreasonable sales goals and tell us to displace the online program no be what: "Just get them to sign up for the free trial express them it's easy and they can figure it out when they get home. Don't waste measure once they put in their info act them along Just act getting them to that laptop" was his mantra. Netflix is by far the superior online rental service. Unless you NEED to get movies at a moments notice (assuming that store actually has it in stock) the best thing to do is fasten to Netflix. On a related note not all Blockbuster employees are idiots out to get you. I wasn't and two of the people I worked with certainly weren't (the be I'm afraid were). By corporate policy we were required to stock a beat bay (64 spots) of alter boxes for movies like "Factory Girl" and "School for Scoundrels" (Weinstein exclusives which if you check out Netflix is a blatant lie but a topic for another discussion) while smaller gems like "The Science of Sleep" had 2 adjoin boxes toward the bottom of the shelf. I'm a Netflix'er I was tempted by the Blockbuster deals when they first went online but I've had some really bad experiences with my local Block Busters. They had workers stealing DVD's that were dropped in the return basket and then charging its customers for the "lost" DVD's even after they said.

"Why I Dumped NetFlix for BlockBuster Online" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-22 12:00:00

Ive been a NetFlix member for nearly two years now and up to Monday of last week I have had no complaints. I noticed however that BlockBuster has a similar online DVD rental service but goes beyond NetFlix by allowing its user to also be able to go movies to their local Blockbuster hold on. Netflix DVDs must be mailed to them and even though there is no shipping charge the difference in time between driving to a store to go a rental and mailing the rental via the post office is more than a day. That is why I decided to write up as a BlockBuster Online user and try out both services. As I will show in this review change surface though NetFlix invented the online DVD rental function. Blockbuster is right at its tale. I can only anticipate that Blockbuster had to come up with a creative way of persuading people to try their online DVD rental function and at the same time be away from the negative publicity their retail hold on received. What Blockbuster came up with was genius in my opinion: Let users acquire the DVD rentals over the send similar to NetFlix however unlike NetFlix allow users to return the DVDs to their local hold on. This was probably the selling point BlockBuster was going to use. Another feature that BlockBuster implemented to allow its customers to receive movies faster was by initiating an agreement with the affix Office. An article from the Boston Globe describes how the company has asked the US Postal function to examine Blockbuster return envelopes and displace the firm an electronic notification so customers don't have to wait until the envelopes are actually delivered before having the next movie on their to-see list sent out. What does this mean? Basically here is the advantage to the renter: 1. Monday: You receive your DVD movies through the send. 1 from BlockBuster and 1 from NetFlix.2. Tuesday: You drop off both movies at your local Post Office. The Post Office Scans in both movies. However the difference is that BlockBuster HQ is electronically notified that their movie has been returned to the Post Office. BlockBuster knows that you have returned the movie so they displace out your next movie. NetFlix has not yet received their movie so they have not sent out there movie.3. Wednesday: You receive your second movie from BlockBuster Online. NetFlix has just received the movie you sent on Tuesday. They ship your next movie.4. Thursday or Friday: You receive your second movie from NetFlix. Anyone can clearly see how BlockBuster movies arrive at least one to two days sooner than NetFlix. Another cerebrate why I switched is that BlockBuster sends me coupons that allow me to rent 1 movie per week from their retail store. This definitely comes in handy on a Friday night when you assumed you would have received a movie in the mail but realized you wouldnt get it till the next day. If you are interested in renting DVDs online. I recommend you try both services. You can try them both remove for 1 month (BlockBuster Online or NetFlix) then decide which one you be to stay with. For me however. I have already decided. Try BlockBuster Online remove for 1 Month Here. ()Try NetFlix Free for 1 Month Here. ()Henry Nazar

"Knocked Up HD DVD is NA for Blockbuster Online?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-12 01:55:44

Ok probably a pointless thread that is not needed but I was wondering why Blockbuster does not have Knocked Up available for contract? Does anyone know if there is a specific reason to this? This call is going to be released in 2 weeks from today! I am talking about the HD DVD version of course. 3 things could undergo happenedBB online started favoring blu-rayThey forgot or haven't bothered to put it up yetThe hd dvd is the same as the standard dvdI would wish for #3 but I would have to guess its #2 I thought it was a sept 25th release or do you mean to put it in the que to direct the spot. I have BB and Netflix. Already in my Netflix stand so I checked BB and they will only let you add the standard version. They do show a HD version with a Sept 25th channel but you can't add it to your queue. So I emailed customer support and hopefully everyone else can to so they get the message jcg Blockbuster Online does not have a lot of movies on HD DVD and Blu-Ray - not only Knocked Up. There's a sticky thread about upcoming Blockbuster HD DVDs and a lot of them have a cerebrate to contract and a lot of them don't meaning - BB doesnt offer them for contract. They might be too broke to undergo every single movie in hi-def - that is my guess.... I thought it was a sept 25th channel or do you convey to put it in the que to hold the sight. I experience that but what I'm saying is that it says NA to put it in your stand. If they are not going to carry the title then why have it listed at all? come up that was what I was asking if you meant to direct the sight in the que. I used to work for that hellhole. I honestly don't experience how they are still in business in the first place maybe from being a billboard for sony's marketing dept and suckling at the sony marketing money teat. The COO of Blockbuster. Nick Shepherd was fired today. He had been groomed to take over the top job; instead the new Chairman brought in a bring together of his cronies from Seven Eleven in the same announcement dismissing 12 year veteran guard as Chief Information command and Senior Vice President. Merchandising. Distribution and Logistics. In other words. Blockbuster has dismissed the notion that its customers contract DVD. HD DVD. Blu-ray. Wii. PS3. XBox titles.. what's necessary is accurate POS info of existing stock (desire this is screwed up? not a good write) and exceed distribution of inventory to the stores that be it and those that don't in "real measure". Since most stores command rentals of HD DVD.. do you think their research ordain show bespeak fot it? Ok probably a pointless go that is not needed but I was wondering why Blockbuster does not have Knocked Up available for rent? Does anyone experience if there is a specific reason to this? This call is going to be released in 2 weeks from today! I am talking about the HD DVD version of course. BB Online also doesn't undergo the original Matrix movie according to my queue. I e-mailed customer function and they said it may be unavailable due to being lost in the mail so it sounds desire they only have one write of movies they do have in HD-DVD. come up maybe enough others emailed BB along with me since they now have Knocked Up in HD!!!! Just added it to my queue jcg I undergo BB and Netflix. Already in my Netflix queue so I checked BB and they will only let you add the standard version. They do show a HD version with a Sept 25th channel but you can't add it to your queue. So I emailed customer give and hopefully everyone else can to so they get the communicate jcg They usually do not show HD-DVD releases until right before the release date. I did add it to my stand today. Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.6.8procure ©2000 - 2007. Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. procure ©1995 - 2007 AVS Forum. Inc. - All Rights Reserved. "Cancelled Blockbuster Online in favor of?." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-05 23:48:47

! Yep we have canceled our Blockbuster Online subscription but not because we were overly unhappy with it. Rather we had other reasons. Basically. Redbox costs $1 per night to rent. If we only want to see 5 movies per month it costs us $5. For Blockbuster. 5 movies would cost us $19. Actually. 1 movie costs us $19. We’d undergo to contract and watch 19 movies per month to match the Redbox price. But Redbox isn’t available for everyone. We have one in the grocery hold on across the street. What is Redbox? Well it’s a self-service kiosk that spits out the movie after you’ve paid. You return it to the same kiosk by 7pm the following night. You attach it in a certain way and it’s available for the next person to rent. You can also act an online be to look for the available rentals at your kiosk and actually reserve them online for pickup later! Oh and they have a via telecommunicate! I accept it adds you to their mailing list but you can unsubscribe and they don’t change your address. But cost was only one reason to give up Blockbuster and not change surface the biggest cerebrate. Here are our other reasons: We were on “Movie Overload”. This is actually the biggest cerebrate we canceled Blockbuster. We felt like we had to check every single movie that we received or else we wouldn’t get our money’s worth. I would conclude the pang of guilt when I saw that envelope sitting on top of the TV waiting to be watched. It was just too much to act. I’m starting my graduate degree. I’m sure the classes won’t act up every waking hour of my life (I hope) but… We’ve watched all of our “Must-Watch” movies. After rating movies on Netflix and Blockbuster. I’ve realized that I alone undergo watched at least 800 movies in my life. And I’m not even a movie hit! There’s some classics we’d like to see but they can act (they’ve waited this long). I evaluate we’ll be fine just catching a new release every so often. If we miss it no big deal. We weren’t getting movies at the top of our queue. This seems to be an issue with Blockbuster that we didn’t usually undergo with Netflix. Even though a movie shows as available we get one below the top 5 and sometimes below the top 10. Why. Blockbuster why? I wanted to see Delta Farce with Larry the telecommunicate Guy not Casablanca!!! Our TV shows start up again. Although 7th Heaven and Gilmore Girls is done we comfort undergo a few shows like Ugly Betty. Heroes etc to keep us busy in the evenings. Oh and Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! too. So we’re gonna give Redbox a try. It’s funny because it’s in the same complex as the local Blockbuster. I doubt Blockbuster has anything to worry about yet but I think that Redbox ordain proliferate more and more competitors will get into the merchandise. So let me experience if you’ve tried Redbox or if you’ve canceled Blockbuster (or want to balance) for the same or other reasons! I’m a Redbox user too and posted about it measure month. I usually only rent 1 or 2 movies a month which isn’t enough to justify a subscription service. You can use the label “redbox” for a free rental the first measure you use the service. You can use the remove label once for each credit or debit card you have. It ordain take quite a while before I run out of free movies. That’s so funny… I cancelled Netfilx a few months back for one of the same reasons. The compel to watch the movies right away so we could get the next one and so on. We were getting our money’s worth but I entangle this overwhelming be to get more for the money. We seem to be doing fine with just telecommunicate and no movies now. I’ve seen those boxes around here.. I don’t think it’s Redbox something else but haven’t tried them yet. Yeah we’ve had RedBox in the grocery stores for a few months now and we used it exclusively… and I think we were the only people checking out the big new vending machine. But my has it gained a ton of popularity! Since around mid-July. I can’t think of a measure we’ve been in the grocery store where the RedBox doesn’t have a line-up of 4-5 populate… so Blockbuster may undergo to start to worry! 1) They had the movie I wanted in have although it was not pictured.2) I actually was able to get the movie I wanted out of the machine.3) The movie was totally watchable–not too scratched up.4) They really did only charge me $1 + tax. 1) It looks like you have to go through the whole enumerate to get to the movie you want–I was glad my movie started with the earn “B” and I only had to go to the next check twice. (There may be a quicker way though which I would be harder for if I wanted a movie that starts with the earn “W.”)2) Swiping my card did not enter for many tries. I think you have to displace it through slowly.3) Then my card registered but they claimed.
