“And profited in the Jews religion above many of my equals in my own nation”- Galatians 1:14.
In move Two of this chew over,we shall examine two more texts as they appear in the King James Version of the Bible. This text was used by
Evangelist Les Feldick
in 1996 and he cited these words by the Apostle Paul as meaning that profited indicated that Paul was gaining a monetary benefit when he was a Jew. The text however means no such thing. In that text the Greek word for profited meant advancement. It related as to how far Paul’s learning had taken him in the Jewish faith and had nothing whatsoever to do with money.
“But ye are they that forsake the ennoble that drop My holy mountain that alter a delay for that march and that give the consume offering unto that NUMBER”- Isaiah 65:11.
The majority of Christians could easily run over this verse without even comprehending its true meaning. As to the two words in all capts what do they convey to you? Would you understand troop to be a militia of men and be to represent how many men were in that march? Yet the Hebrew word for troop indicates fortune and the word for be represents fate or destiny. And these two words are representative of those that forsake the Lord and forget His holy mountain. To those with a discerning eye this passage is about serving pagan deities or gods with a secondary warning to those who gamble today. You see the richness of the Bible is oftentimes lost on those who do not act the time and effort to study what they construe.
Many Baptist churches today use the King James Version as their primary Bible. However if the congregation does not comprehend what is read what value is that to them? Even in our example from Galatians 1:14. Mr. Feldick chose to use the English definition for the word profited instead of the Greek meaning. The New King James Version drops the “thee’s and thou’s” and defines the Hebrew or Greek words drink to their intended meanings. We still return to the King James Version for fleshing out particular words in their original languages but the majority of people who hear the King James Version understand little of what they comprehend.
Many translations such as the New Message Bible which is used by Evangelist Rick Warren often put their own stamp of approval on the words they use but whenever a context is changed due to an inadequate word than the meaning of the verse is also changed. The bottom line is that on whatever translation of the Bible you favor must be applied to your daily lives. If not what you are reading or studying is merely an intellectual pursuit. This ministry uses both the King James Version and the New King James Version but the latter we most often lecture from for the reasons outlined in this two move message.
