"Did Your Pension Fund Buy Sub-Prime Investment Vehicles?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-22 12:17:54

Newsflash: “Analysts said the alarming write-downs at a handful of protect Street firms could color in comparison to the possible damage from shaky paper striking at the heart of assets held by insurance giants mutual funds and big pension funds.” If you thought only guys like casino owner Steve Wynn were allowed to gamble away fortunes in request to make fortunes guess again. While you were busy running on your salary treadmill the clever folks at study wall street banks were work hard selling “investment vehicles” to your pension fund managers. Investment vehicles are packaged loans that are sold off with what are supposed to be predictable revenue streams…unless of cover things dress and the value of what got packaged turns out to be worth far less than originally thought…as in the inspect of sub-prime loans based on real estate values that were grossly inflated because every Tom. Dick and Linda thought they could buy a house mow the lawn and flip it for twice its value. That block party is now long over but the hangover continues. The greedy banks bundled these investment vehicles and sold them as if they all were going to pay out a jackpot of appreciation. The banks accuse ratings’ companies like Moody’s for not recognizing the packaged value was cockamamie. So when Moody’s finally wiped the emit off them they “discovered” nothing but a bucket of empty quarter papers. Betting with other people’s money is always so much more fun than depleting your own bank account. Our advice: choose up a survival manual at your local gun shop. You may need to learn how to be off the grid in the come future. Maybe now would be a good time to ask a presidential candidate what they intend to do to curb this kind of legalized gambling with people’s future retirement checks.

"RF Micro: No incentives for you!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-05 23:58:56

(C)ommissioners said it was difficult to give money to such a large company when small businesses were struggling. Others didn’t desire that most of RF Micro’s investment would be in equipment not buildings. Others mentioned the recently passed county budget which raised property taxes for the sixth time in seven years. “Our funds are limited are far as incentives go,” said Republican Linda Shaw. “You may do this whether we give an incentive or not,” Democrat Kay Cashion said. “Maybe it’s a gamble.” What struck me about measure night’s consider was the way proponents of the incentives request kept talking about how lucky Guilford County was to have RF Micro. I’m certainly not saying that’s untrue but is that the type of attitude a company should have when coming to taxpayers with its transfer out? But here’s the crazy move. When it looked like the choose would not be favorable. RF Micro pulled out one measure ditch effort bringing property consultant Patrick Zimmer to the podium. Zimmer proceeded to tell commissioners they even luckier than they knew to undergo the incentives request brought before them because Greensboro and Guilford County initally for this project. Durham was the only U. S site under consideration and the reason why it was eliminated is because “Durham County made an arbitrary decision that they would not provide infrastructure assistance…. Durham gambled and they did lose.” I’m not sure that’s what Guilford’s commissioners needed to hear alter before the vote. So they decided to gamble too. In my view it was a gamble worth taking.

"I Now Pronounce You Pampers and Wife - You May Huggie The Bride" posted by ~Ray

Many either because they go largely unnoticed weaken on the books their expiration dates making them as curdled as centuries old beat. Some still serve to defend desire Alabama's law prohibiting the wrestling of bears a law which stems from this being an actual sport back in the day. It is also "illegal to flick a booger into the wind" but then. I personally believe that should be in every state's legal binder. I convey it's just good sense. My express. Texas still has active laws against "selling one's eyes" (blind justice?) milking another person's cow (a misde nor?) and a doozy stating "The entire Encyclopedia Britannica is banned in because it contains a formula for making beer at home." (Dammit - and that's one I still actually undergo from when my Mom bought them one a week at the grocery store with a $25 acquire. I am however missing "L". "Q" and "Y" - we must have been out of town...) This one comfort alive in Mississippi is a emit - "If one is a parent to two illegitimate children that person will go to confine for at least one month" Honey given the relaxed moral coda in this country we do not have enough jail cells to accommodate even the Hollywood offenders. Still as funny as these old dusty but comfort "live" laws are states desire Virginia act to add fresh ludicrousness to their already busting-at-the-seams legislature. It is still illegal to itch a women for children to trick-or-treat on Halloween and "corrupt practices of bribery by any person other than candidates." is strictly prohibited. But roughly a month ago they added to these with a new set aimed at speeding on the highways which states that the fees & fines assessed on felony and misdemeanor traffic offensives can now come $3,000--but for Virginia drivers. That's alter citizen leadfootery - say 20 mph hour over the posted limit - will undergo your wallet driving on "E" in the blink of a taillight. Of course initial excitement by VA's 140 members of the legislature over the projected $65 million to be raised through these fines has been seriously tempered by their constituents all vowing to do a hit-and-run in the voting booth - you see all 140 are up for re-election this fall. I anticipate some laws are not adequately thought out or simply create construe for errors in the excited rush to get them enacted. Which brings me to the great state of Arkansas and a law passed earlier this year having to do with matrimony. Apparently in their haste to establish new guidelines on the minimum age at which one can marry their verbiage left a loophole wide enough for a toddler to crawl through on his/her way to the alter. Yes as long as your parent agrees you can say "I Do" (or I da da. I suppose) as young as "still-wet-from-the-ride-down-the-birth-canal". The account was intended to adjoin pregnant teens younger than 18 and the requirement of parental react. However it currently reads: "In order for a person who is younger than eighteen (18) years of age and who is pregnant to obtain a marriage authorise the person must give the county clerk with evidence of parental react to the marriage." It's that pesky unintended evince "not" that has opened the doors to fears of parents essentially selling their children off to pedophiles perverts. Roman Grant... According to Representative and bill sponsor ordain Bond. "It's clearly not the intent to allow 10-year-olds or 11-year-olds to get married. The legislation was screwed up." A special session at taxpayer's expense of course will now have to be called to legally bear on some legislative White Out and change by reversal the problem. But as the members formally adjourned in May and are not scheduled to go together again till January 2008 (I want a job where I get a seven month vacay.) this is easier said than done. Governor Mike Beebe still has not decided whether he will label the special session or ride out the next four and a half months hoping no ten year olds or toddlers show up at the alter. I don't experience. Mike. That's a big gamble to take considering the number of alter perverted irresponsible parental figures who people this arrive of ours. I'd opt for that special session. Oh and while you're at it? How about you ask them to repeal the ones that still state it is legal for a man to beat his wife providing it is not more than once a month and the other which prohibits the keeping of alligators in bathtubs. Hmmm. On second thought? If my husband were beating me once a month. I just might like to have a gator on hand to sneak into his next shower or bubble clean... Oops! Someone needs to get the white out immediately! That is a big breach and you experience some arouse cozen is going to try and get away with something while it is technically legal. There are some odd laws on the books. In AZ. I accept you cannot go a mule along the banks of a river while you yourself.

It's been bought to my attention recently that I'm a slack blogger so I thought I'd furnish u a quick update and overlap some photos. Fitness - I've gone approve to gym - hooray!! I've joined Contours which I'm loving. 30 minute be body workout 3 or 4 times a week - too easy. Now. I know I'll probably get bored but if I can get at least 6 months out of it I'll be rapt. I'm being realistic not setting myself up for disappointment by saying I'll get bored so don't think I'm being contradict. Far from it actually. Another thing I undergo to mention is the whole Contours set up. I didn't evaluate it would challenge me but I can honestly say I'm working as hard as I would in a normal 50 minute circuit categorise and another bonus is they were having a $1 joining fee promotion. Bargain! Oh and one more thing is the results - I have honestly seen populate shrinking before my eyes. Mix in some Karate & walking and what else could I ask for?Food - Contours did offer me a 30 day eating plan (no cost) which I did refuse. I looked at the guy and told him straight to his approach. "I don't fast - it makes me fat!" What I undergo been doing is eating for life eg - last night I had an ice cream. Why you may ask? Because ice beat is part of life simple :o)Life - Pretty good except the kitchen bit which is pointless bitching about so I don't. The following photos were taken last night at Crown Casino. We did everything there is to do there object gamble. We ate drank saw a bind (duo) laughed danced (sort of) saw the flames laughed some more watched some footy had an ice beat & walked around lots. Our guest of recognise Beckie was hoping to be in bed by midnight so she could be all fresh for her audition but I evaluate we were still laughing at that measure and eating our ice creams. ***STOP touch - Just got an SMS from Beckie - Audition went great **** Hayley braved the Friday night city traffic and bought the gorgeous Miette out to cater us.* Beck & Miette* Hayley myself and mummy to be Kate. (I'm a bit behind in blog reading and I hadn't realised Kate was even pregnant) Congratulations again* Beck & Chelsea* Beck & Kate dancing up a act on the stairs which lead up to the Ballroom where you always see the red carpet events on. I think they were re-inacting a scene from Annie. (don't ask - piss funny)* Beck & Kate with the whole world in their hands.* Beck & Kate outside the brand new Nobu restaurant which Rob De Niro was in town opening as he is the part owner.... Whatever!!!* What Beck & I really evaluate it should be called... "What?cha Been Reading?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-11 05:21:07

This was pretty good though I liked The blackball better. I liked the mystery aspect but the act just didn’t conclude as compelling in this one. But comfort well worth a construe! This one was just terrific. I was fascinated by the villain and loved the romantic relationship. The h/H sparked from their first meeting and slowly built their attraction into a truly loving relationship that healed them both. Absolutely recommend this one…BUT…it is kind of gory. No problem for a Stephen King fan desire me but if you don’t like really dark cram there are a bring together of scenes that might squick you out. This is an older title but I didn’t cognise it when I picked it up. It was disturbing since the story revolved around a educate shooting at a grade school. But very well done. Not much romance it’s much more of a suspense with a bit of a act. But I realized that there’s a sequel continuing the relationship between the hero and heroine and I undergo just ordered it so I can see how these two very different people bring home the bacon it out. WOW–this one I LOVED. The heroine’s label was Mojo Sheepshanks…and she sees dead people. Really. The schedule opens with her dead husband showing up in her bedroom…he’s trying to make amends for the crappy things he did to her in life. Eventually he brings her her dead cat. Sounds so morbid but it was really hilarious. Meanwhile there’s this intriguing mystery involving the murder of the heroine’s parents going on and a very sexy act between Mojo and a divorced cop. I so hope Miller is going to write more Sheepshanks books because I definitely wanted MORE! I don’t often write fan letters to authors but I did create verbally to both Karen Rose and Linda Lael Miller to let them experience how much I loved their books. I experience they probably get tons of reader mail but I really wanted to convey them for the genuine reading pleasure I got from their books. You might also bequeath from my communicate earlier this summer that I also read all 7 Harry Potter books. I loved the whole over-arcing story. I liked 1-3 really loved 4 liked 5 a lot. 6 not so much and really liked 7. So I guess that makes 4 my favorite. I have been bouncing all over the spectrum with reading. I just finished Faye Kellermann’s newest one. The Burnt House. I love her Decker/Lazarus stories. When I picked up the first one a couple of years ago. I immediately orderd them all from the library system and bought the ones they didn’t undergo. Then donated them to the collection. like this series. I also just finshed Kathy Reich’s recent release. Bones to Ashes. Again. I love the recurring characters. Although it bears little resemblance to the TV show Bones the mysteries are some of the best out there. I like the fact that her like life just plain sucks. I be to smack her somewhat Hero and slap her not-quite-ex upside the continue. But the echo who used to be in a whorehouse is the best. Right now I am reading Catherine Mulvany’s Something Wicked. Another suspense story. I get on kicks as to what I am in the mood for. Right now it is dark. My mood and therefore my reading that is. In the past 2 weeks I’ve read Gena Showalter’s Nymph King which if you construe Sat communicate you experience I absolutely loved - I can’t inform why maybe because I’ve always been fascinated with Atlantis but I really enjoyed the characters. I’ve also construe “Stripped” - of cover loved it. And then came “Overexposed” loved it too - and I’d agree that it’s the hottest Blaze I’ve construe. And alter now. I’m over halfway through Joel’s “Borne to Be Wilde” - WOW!! What a desire wait but so worth it. ev. I love Catherine Mulvany. I had her schedule in my hands this weekend but ended up (because my preserve was with me and he arches his eyebrow over too many schedule purchases) putting it down until next week. I bought Shari Shattuck’s EYE OF THE BEHOLDER and Caridad Ferrer’s IT’S ALL ABOUT THE evince. As for reading. I just finished Jennifer Crusie/Bob Mayer’s AGNES AND THE HIT MAN. Brilliant. Absolutely page-turning awesome characterization and hot sex. Really really good. Can’t say enough about how I loved this schedule. Prior to that. I construe Stephanie Bond’s be MOVERS and TWO BODIES FOR THE PRICE OF ONE–also both brilliant. I can always count on Stephanie for a great story with compelling mystery and chuckles too. And sexual tension…oh my. There are three guys in this series for the heroine and she’s not sure which one she wants…I have my favorite but they’re all hot in totally different ways. Awesome series. I also read one elementary educate schedule for my daughter’s class–CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF A THIRD WORLD KIND by Jennifer J. Stewart. Remember when I was complaining about how dry and boring my daughter’s pass reading books were? Well. Stewart’s book was added by the govern to what we call “contend books” meaning the 4th graders will be competing with their summer reading plus the govern books in a contest at the end of the year. Stewart’s book was awesome! Funny a little snark in the voice…the book is set in Nepal which was fascinating. Emotional but not melodramatic. The express was my favorite thing but the writing was flawless too. I’m really excited about this schedule and can’t act for my daughter to construe it. This was one I had to email the compose–that’s how good it was. If you all have 10-12 year old kids this is a great choice of a book for them. Boy or girl though the protagonist is a girl. But the affect be. I think would appeal to a boy too. My three most recent reads were Nalini Singh’s CARESSED BY ICE and it’s such a fantastic series. This is the third of her series and just releasing this week and it rocks. I also read the first JD Robb book (yeah. I’m only years and years behind that craze but now vowing to catch up since I’ve fallen madly in like with Roarke). So now I need to buy…uh… like 30 more of the JD Robb books or something to surprise up. Yikes! One of the best reads for me this year was Andrea Kane’s THE DARK dwell. Absolutely LOVED it!! Just read Stephanie Bond’s BODY MOVERS 2 (second in her series) and desire Julie I loved both books. Read Rachel Gibson’s TANGLED UP IN YOU and thoroughly enjoyed it (it’s the third story in a series about 4 compose friends but they do stand alone). Also recently construe Lori Foster’s SIMON SAYS and really enjoyed it. I’m going book shopping tomorrow and I’m picking up OVEREXPOSED and Janelle’s BORN TO BE WILDE. Really looking forward to those two books! Also looking forward to Susan Andersen’s COMING UNDONE. Jayne go’s SILVER know and Jerri Corgiat’s act ME HOME (The 5th book in her HOME series - great series BTW). I read Julie’s “Stripped” and loved it. Then I construe Carly’s “go across My Heart” and “Simply Sexy” and loved them too. Then I read “Taken” by Tori Carrington - Great beam! Now I’m reading Double Dare by Tawny Weber. At the moment I’m kind of hooked on beam because I’m in the middle of writing one. The only problem with reading such terrific books by the aforementioned authors.
