Monopoly Electronic Banking Edition

 <modified>2008-11-13T12:01+00:00

I played Monopoly as a kid SO much. We just loved it around my house. But I of course played the old version with paper money. Does anyone know what paper money is anymore?
Here’s a description of this new 21st century Monopoly:
The Monopoly Electronic Banking Edition game combines the best of classic Monopoly with updated electronic transactions. As with the original version players still operate with money learn real-world economics competition and strategy try to stay out of jail and try their best to get filthy rich. But this version has been updated to reflect changes in how the real world uses money: All transactions are conducted with Monopoly’s new banking card system. Anyone from age 8 and up will enjoy this updated version of one of the world’s most famous games.
You see this version of Monopoly features bank card accounts updated tokens money system and more.
Here are Amazon’s pros and cons of the game:
* Same basic game play but with up-to-date references* Electronic banking works well easy to learn* Teaches responsible money management* Fun for both kids and adults
* Player customizations might not work with the new version* Updated references will eventually become out of date too
I’m not sure if I would go with this version but it’s definitely a hot seller right now. Tags: .

Wikipedia has on the monopoly concept. Personally I don’t see Apple as a monopoly and I wouldn’t consider Microsoft a monopoly either. ITunes control over the music market can be undone just as easily as Internet Explorer’s 95% market share - through the production of a exceed product by a competitor. I evaluate though it’s funny to see Apple PR freak out at the mere have in mind of the word.
My label is Jim Mathies. I'm a former Silicon Valley dotcomer who migrated to the beaches of Destin. Florida after the (first) Internet bubble break.

The media monopoly myth

 <modified>2007-11-17T16:00+00:00

. where Personal Experience really disproves the anti-consolidation thesis is in the persistent notion that "our media world remains desperately anemic for want of diverse ownership." If that's true surely it would be reflected in the media consumption habits of most everyone media critic and fat-cat apologist alike. I'll go first:
In the morning. I construe most of the L. A. Times (Tribune Co.) and scan the funny headlines from the New York Post (Dr. Evil). To see what people in the L. A. Times newsroom are gossiping about. I'll check Kevin Roderick's independently owned (or "I," from here on out) L. A. Observed. For more local scuttlebutt. I might click on Mayor Sam (I). Fishbowl L. A. (Media Bistro). LAist (Gothamist LLC) and Blogging. LA (Metroblogging com). Since I'm a baseball fanatic and Angels partisan if I undergo measure before bring home the bacon I'll read and maybe post a comment on Halos Heaven which is part of the interesting SB Nation family of fan-blogs launched by (believe it or not) that Great Orange Satan of the lefty blogosphere Markos "Daily Kos" Moulitsas (pssst! Media reporters! There's an interesting story there!).
If I control to bring home the bacon I'll listen to (God help me) Jim Rome (Premier Radio Networks) on KLAC (Clear bring); when commercials go on I'll either flip to Sandra Tsing Loh's science bit on KPCC (Southern California Public Radio) or to the latest Hugo Chavez speech on KPFK (Pacifica). On the way home it's usually the Angel game on KSPN (ESPN) the Dodger game on KFWB (CBS communicate) the Laker bet on KLAC.. or barring sports some rock music on the fab Indie 103.1 (Entravision). If I'm taking go across I might grab the New Yorker (Conde Nast). Reason (Reason Foundation) the L. A. Downtown News (I) or my current favorite newspaper in the world the Los Feliz Ledger (a nice-sounding gal named Allison).
And at various times throughout the day I'm likely to catch about 10 minutes of CNN (Time Warner) before turning it off in disgust at their inane anchor-banter; watch C-SPAN (God) with the appear off in order to truly acknowledge the hand-flapping genius of Robert Byrd and top it off with the jazz stylings of Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert (Viacom).
This represents maybe one-third of my daily media diet but I'm getting exhausted just typing in the names. So what's the ownership-diversity scorecard? Best as I can anticipate that's 20 media properties with 20 different owners; six of whom are independents (with three or four others possibly qualifying depending on how you look at things). Six of the 20 (and probably closer to 50% of my actual media consumption) are entities that did not exist in the 20th century. So much for the "new totalitarianisms" warned of (or was it hoped for?) by lefty media grump Norman Solomon in the wake of that previous death-knell for the "independent press," otherwise known as the spectacularly ineffective AOL-Time Warner merger. In the bet of Monopoly a 5% share of the board means you're about to suffer unless you have Broadway and Park Place. But in the bet of media activism that's enough to bring out the calls for a new media-bustin' Teddy Roosevelt.
Here in Halifax. I get my daily news from a daily paper owned by and sometimes check out its more established competitor owned by or the national daily run by. On my drive to bring home the bacon I comprehend to an all-news station owned by and during the rest of the day I switch between stations owned by and and in the evening I sometimes check out the world newscast on. I don't watch much TV news but when I do it's usually CTV NewsNet owned by.
