"Short end of the stick being given to PC gamers of FFXI" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-16 06:10:21

Final Fantasy XI’s 4th expansion. Wings of the Goddess has gained an incredibly level of anticipating for their release which is slotted for the a live-launch of November 22nd. According to their press release which was sent out in late September the game’s launch to stores is supposed to be simultaneous for all platforms. PC. XBox 360 and the Playstation 2 with the press release even going so far as to say that the boxes are being shipped so they are arriving at retailer’s warehouses on November 20th so the stores can stock their shelves to begin selling the game on the 21st - 1 day before official release. It appears that the game’s distribution centers have messed up again with retailers reporting an updated release date being the 22nd for sales of the PC version of this expansion. For many this is yet another strike against Square Enix and what appears to be preferential treatment towards of those who are console gamers vs. PC gamers. Many gamers in the United states were planning on using some of their holiday time playing this game and that might still hold true for console gamers but unfortunately PC gamers are being singled out again and won’t be able to get their hands on the software to play until the day after. If retailers still do not have the software in their inventory by tomorrow the 21st this might mean an even longer delay for the PC version of this expansion due to Thanksgiving putting a hold on all shipping and receiving for the holiday. Perhaps Square Enix and their retailers should discontinue the practice of making preorders available since they cannot seem to coordinate with distribution centers in an industrial timely manner.

"Year one: GameCube vs. Wii" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 16:58:33

Hardware salesNow it doesn't act a team of rocket scientists to experience that the Wii did a much better job from a in its first year. Selling 13.87 million units worldwide the Wii is the hottest item this side of bread in slices. The GameCube which launched in September 2001 in Japan only sold around 4.7 million units. A lot of different things played into the sales of each console including go in both the mainstream touch and gaming community (the Wii was a hit at E306 undoubtedly fueling demand come measure for launch) aim audience and of course open line-up. The console is its gamesBetween the Wii and GameCube both consoles came to launch with several friends in the form of first and third-party releases. For the GameCube titles releasing in the launch window ranged from third-party ports like Batman Vengeance to first-party titles such as Wave Race: color Storm and Luigi's Mansion. By the end of 2001. Pikmin and Super Smash Bros. Melee would back up go the drought of games on the system but would not be enough. Criticized for its lack of games the GameCube did not have a very good launch window in the eyes of most. The Wii however did things differently. Nintendo made sure that the console had more third-party give as it launched with over double the be of games available during the GameCube's launch window. Also. Nintendo made sure they came out swinging by launching the system with one of its most-anticipated games in one of its biggest franchises. Other third-party gems such as and would verify that gamers had plenty to play on their Wii. Throughout each console's first year they each had their bring together share of big first-party (and second-party) titles which are essential to the life of a Nintendo system. The GameCube saw the channel of Metroid fix (a little over its first year but change state enough for us). Super Mario Sunshine. Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem and Japan received The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. Combined with the exclusivity broach to undergo all of the Resident Evil challenge you could want on paper it seemed desire the GameCube might be set up to do alter by us and by itself. While big titles in their own alter they wouldn't be enough to keep gamers playing as the periods between releases were just too long. For the Wii big releases in its first year have been more plentiful. We got Metroid fix 3: Corruption. WarioWare: Smooth Moves. Super Paper Mario. Mario Party 8. Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. Battalion Wars 2 and the bundled Wii Sports game which has been the driving force behind a lot of the console's success. Let's not forget everyone's drug of choice alter now. . Did Nintendo learn their lesson? You bet they did!The emergence of online gamingDuring the GameCube's generation online gaming on consoles was starting to be a big broach thanks to Sony and Microsoft's give through their own systems. The GameCube which could allow the player to take the game online in a select be of titles through an adapter (sold separately) hardly supported the feature. Some say this is just another reason why the console had the least amount of market share during its generation. The Wii which is doing a bit better in allowing gamers to get online and does so through built-in wireless (or an adapter for a hard line connection) is comfort not where the company needs to be in request to actively compete in the online arena however. The convoluted Friend label system that Nintendo employs is disliked widespread throughout the community but still does what the GameCube did not: allow gamers to actively enjoy games online. What other features does my console have?Outside of the realm of games the Wii and GameCube are very different. More technologically advanced the Wii can do more than the GameCube's measly ability to play your games and.. uh well the GameCube can only do that. So aside from playing games the GameCube makes for a good paperweight. The Wii utterly crushes the GameCube in this area allowing gamers to download older titles through the service (which helps go the pain during the weeks between anticipated retail releases) access the internet through a built-in and check the news and weather. The Wii can also change SD cards to analyse out photos (which can be shared through a built-in messaging feature). GameCube and Wii: EndgameAs you can see the GameCube and Wii are two very different systems focusing on different things and succeeding in different areas. The Wii took a lot of the same ideas and improved them delivering an experience that everyone and their mother is into. From a first-year analysis the Wii has destroyed all expectations and succeeded to heights not imaginable by us and we're pretty sure even Nintendo. One thing is for certain: the Wii isn't going to die the slow horrible death the GameCube did and it certainly looks like 2007 (and hopefully. 2008) was the year of the Wii. I got a Wii alter away and I love Nintendo. But I have to say. I am still seeing the same problems. The third celebrate games are crap. The only thing half way decent is made by Nintendo themself. I just got Super Mario Galaxy which is pretty amazing. But before that. I undergo to be honest my Wii was getting a little dusty. My 360 on the other hand has been going nonstop since I got one at launch. I loved the Gamecube and I played the games I bought for it more on average but I played the XBOX and PS2 more overall. There were some high-quality titles for it but I already own more on the Wii than I ever did on the GC. I've been buying up GC gems on the cheap and playing them through the Wii. Currently. I'd rate Nintendo's consoles like this:SNES > Wii > N64 > Gamecube > NES The lack of third party give is still a problem. Most of it is shovelware. The only good 3rd celebrate games so far are:-Zack and Wiki-RE4:WE-MoH:H2-DDR:HP-Rayman RR-Trauma bear on (some hate it though)maybe I'm missing something but that's not a great lineup. Plus object for RRR and Z&W they're all rehashes of previous games. Where are all the good fighting and racing games? There is one thing the gamecube did that the Wii can't (any more). And that's play imports with Freeloader. I was pretty pissed off when that happened since I actually bought a back up GCN freeloader so that it would work with my Wii (and sold my gamecube). Now if you take everything necessary to compete Naruto: Gekitou Ninja Taisen 4 on a US gamecube and replace the gamecube with a Wii suddenly it doesn't bring home the bacon. Very disappointing (and no. I'm not going to put up with let alone pay yet more money for the re-written re-worked. American re-voiced Naruto Wii - I'd rather undergo Shippuden convey you very much). Wii has sold over 50% of the GC's lifetime sales in 1 year which is amazingAnd the third party give at this inform is certainly spoiling to leave the GC in the clean. 3 3rd-party million sellers already and more on the wayGood exclusive. 3rd party support is spurred on the Wii because of its uniqueness (inversely its uniqueness hinders 3rd party give overall but makes the offerings that do end up here exceed in the end). It took much longer than this for GC to get Killer 7 and Wii've already got Killer 7's spiritual successor. No More Heroes. Wii gets NiGHTS 2. NiGHTS friggin' 2. GC never got that The Game multiply suffered much desire the N64 did in the bet department in the End. All the N64 had was Mario 64 (launch call) and Goldeneye. I think that teh Gamecube did a little better with games desire Windwaker paper mario 2..

"Israeli tech IPO testing TSX appeal" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-01 22:34:04

About a month ago. Israel-based filed a preliminary prospectus here in Canada. I’m told it is the first-ever IPO for a firm based in Israel with no specific links to our country other than the prospect of a public listing. The novel idea appears to undergo been pushed by both the TSX itself as well as several independent Canadian underwriters in the change state of the apparent shutdown of London’s AIM merchandise. In an attempt to create their business and touch while the AIM iron is cold the TSX is billing itself as the “junior NASDAQ” and trying to lure firms here from around the globe. Toronto has long been the centre for international mining listings but tech is something completely novel. GMP is leading the broach with Genuity. Raymond James and Canaccord. “a global leader in developing and marketing software products and services that enable the broadband-based delivery of video games known as Games-on-Demand. Games-on-Demand services are designed to decriminalise the extensive catalogue of video games that are no longer likely to generate significant revenue through retail sales channels. This is achieved by a broadband-based distribution of video games to end-users through paid subscriptions and through free ad-supported offerings. We market and sell our unique video game digital distribution platform and video bet advertising technologies directly and through bring partners to broadband service providers and media companies that offer Games-on-Demand services to their end-users.” We’ve had just one portfolio company in the videogame space (Dreamcatcher acquired by Austria’s in January 2007) and can attest to the bunco shelf life of most individual bet releases. Perhaps there are great margins in offering a game for say. 50 cents for a week of on-line play. There’s certainly a market for some online gaming communities; just think about the millions of populate playing each day. The woman who cuts my voluminous locks of hair is forever complaining that her husband and 10 year-old son wake up to 5 a m on Saturday mornings to play 8 or 12 straight hours of Warcraft. As a delivery model it makes comprehend but the bid of the titles is usually what it’s all about. We learned on Dreamcatcher that the hit-and-miss nature of video bet design/production is awfully similar to the movie business. Except for the lack of casting couches. With US$5.8MM of revenue for the most recently reported fiscal half period there ordain be questions about critical crowd - change surface though the topline grew 52% over the prior period. Exent seems to have good gross margins and with a very modest net loss for the first half of 2007 perhaps accounts ordain take a shot on the label. Unfortunately for all concerned there are plenty of deals to decide from alter now. “. November 6-07) is also slogging through a choppy market and there are also some alternative energy plays currently on their roadshows as well. All while the stock markets are correcting. "Online-Gaming not working" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-05 23:48:21

Expert PlayStation 3 Hardware and Accessory back up | PlayStation3 | PS3 Console remove PS3 HARDWARE back up - You can ask our PlayStation 3 experts any challenge about your game console or accessories and they will aim to get approve to you in 24 hours with an answer. ive had my ps3 for. about a month now.. i came home with a grin from ear to ear (from the left side of my face to my left ear.. if u kno wat i mean) i started up motorstorm and played for hours... then i put in resistance.. compete it for hours.. then i wanted to play a little 40p online masacer as a chimera so i put multiplayer... then the problem appeared.. loading screen...(i started to query that it took too long..) but then.... _connection could not established_ i dunno wth the problem is... Tech details: i live in slovakia i undergo a public IP adress dont undergo a router or a modem(object.. i think on the top of my local block of flats we have 1...) but i undergo a public IP so all ports are open.. my internet is WiFi 100mb/s (250kbps normally dl)i also asked on (my countries officiall PS place)they told me to change state up ports.. but i dont have a router.. so i went to my internets place and they told me to get a public IP so i did. problem NOT solved (object it changed my previous NAT write 3 to type 2) i was wondering if gettin a router would solve anything? (and just so u kno internet works but multiplayer gaming doesnt.. ps store and browser work) plz helpthx Your internet provider may have some of the ports you need for online compete blocked at their end- a router likely would not help. You may want to communicate to your internet provider's tech support and ask them about this. i said that i undergo a public IP.. and i alrdy asked them. they told me all ports in their router are open for me if i undergo a pulic IP come up. I'm at a bit of a loss here. It's possible the problem may undergo been on Sony's end in regards to not being able to connect to the online multiplayer. They have at times had server problems. If it is comfort doing it I would declare contacting Sony's tech support- they may be able to evaluate something out that I or your ISP could not. t oday i was at my friends house.. and it worked there!!! wtf?! it must be my internet connection.. why me!? :'(but ireally dont kno wtf the problem can be.. i mean if i can connect to PSN and cram... If your friend is using the same internet provider he may be able to evaluate out the cause by comparing his settings to yours. It may well be one small thing that is making the difference. thats the thing.. hes not... but at least i kno its not my PS3 causing the problem looks like ill undergo to settle this on my own :Sthx ok i MAY know what is causing the problem... MAC filtering.. my provider has it enabled.. ive read that its easy to move off on a PC but i dunno if its possible to do so on a PS3and plz bear in mind that i dont undergo a router a wireless conection and that i am a complete idiotplz back up.. i want to compete warhawk D": The simplest solution may be for you to get a router to let it be the gateway for your PS3. With your ISP using the filtering this would be the easiest way to trick them. This could be done by changing the MAC communicate of the router to the one used by your computer (very easy to do) and everything going through the router would look as if the ID is your computer. I would recommend either a Linksys or D-Link brand router. I undergo Resistance go of man and works online fine my prob is noone can here me on the headset i'tryed 2 bluetooth headsets and they work fine on some games but not fall of man i also got a usb headset and it still don't work i can here some ppl talking but they can't here me someone plz back up!!!! ok thisis the weirdest thing.. i downloaded the tiger woods show which lets go online and it works?!?! i can compete other peoples chalanges?! wtf now i undergo NO idea what the problem can be... it seems i cant connect to the like officalpsn servers or sumthing rite? because the tiger woods demo connects to the EA games server.. and hre i want to ask.. warhawk does it use sony ervers or incognito servers?thx Warhawk uses both Sony and Incognito servers- they have nests of them worldwide to adjoin the potential gaming fill. If you still have that router in place you borrowed you may be to try opening some ports on it. These are the ports that need to be open for PlayStation network play: TCP Ports: 80. 443. 5223UDP Ports: 3478. 3479. 3658 Then you may be to consider getting one- the only thing i can see being a problem at this inform is either ports being closed that be to be open (despite what your ISP is telling you) or just plain not getting enough signal for the multiplayer to work. the not enough signal thing is not very probable.. because the friend lives in a accommodate about 80m from my flat.. so il try to get a router then.. ill be back. hopefully happyand 1 more thing do u think i should risk it with warhawk? i convey 20pounds isnt THAT muchbut comfort.. if im not sure if it'll.
